Robyn – Body Talk Pt. 1

Some of you may remember the spunky and attitude driven Swedish pop darling Robyn who gained a lot of worldwide attention in the 90’s with her extremely poppy hits like  “Show Me Love” and “Do You Know”. But if you’re like me then your interest probably wasn’t piqued enough to make you keep up with her sporadic album releases throughout the last decade. But this year she’s really stepped up her game with an ambitious goal of releasing three albums all spaced out by just a few months. June saw the release of the first of this album series with Body Talk, Part 1, and I’m here to tell you that Robyn is back and here to capture the electronic beat of our hearts…

My favorite tracks from the album are “Dancing On My Own” (which may or may not be the token theme song of my midnight solo dance parties in my room) and “Cry When You Get Older”. If you’re looking for something with energy, attitude and is extremely danceable then you’ve struck gold… so dust off your strobe light and go download it immediately.

“Fembot” and “None Of Dem” are easy to get into but other tracks like “Don’t F*****g Tell Me What To Do” and “Jag Vet En Dejlig Rosa” are a slightly different cup of beat driven tea. There’s not too much for me to say beyond that but just know that Body Talk, Part 2 is due to be released September 7th. So be kind to your wallet and check out the album before the second comes out and you’re forced to binge buy and download them both. And no matter what you may think about her music I know you wish you were hardcore enough to be able to rock even one of the insane hair styles she sports. C’mon people, she sings the truth when she said in 2005 “You Can’t Handle Me”… so here’s a cyber-toast to a girl with an attitude, a lady with backbone, and to a lass who’s a bad-ass. Robyn.
