The Dodo’s – No Color

There’s no color on the album cover for No Color? Clever Dodo’s… I see what you did there, very clever indeed.

Why does new music come out on Tuesdays? To give you a reason to live through Monday of course! And what is the grand prize for all this weeks’  survivors? The Dodo’s brand spankin’ new album No Color.

This is the fourth LP release from the San Francisco residing duo made up of Meric Long and Logan Kroeber.  The very fact that a band can survive long enough to put out four albums is always a good sign of their validity as a musical group. And they’ve done a terrific job yet again I suppose the album can be a little noisy at times but it’s an energetic noise that will make you want to roll down your car windows regardless of the weather, and as a life long resident of Houston Texas I don’t say that lightly. This album is so consistently good that it’s hard to pick any favorites but I’ve listened through it a couple of times now and I’d say that Good and Black Night are both tracks that are sticking out thus far. Also, you’ll notice some surprise vocals from Neko Case!

Albums come in all shapes and sizes… ok not so much, but they certainly come in all styles and sounds. And I have to say that I don’t usually use the term ‘delightful’ for an album but I think it’s the most appropriate. Truly, any album that can keep me smiling all the way through, even though I’m stuck inside on a beautiful day, is really somethin’ else.

Suggested if you like Local Natives, Arcade Fire, and being happy.

Special Tip for today only… it’s the editor’s pick on Amazon Mp3’s and is only 2.99 for today!
