KT Tunstall – Have Yourself A Very KT Christmas
With a voice reminiscent of Pat Benetar or Stevie Nicks it’s hard for KT to pull of the syrupy sweet holiday cheer… so I appreciate that she didn’t even try it. This is “holiday rock” to be sure and I can’t say that I recommend adding it to a playlist full of your holiday Sinatra and Nat King Cole any more than I recommend drinking milk with lemon-aid.
Christmas (Baby Please Come Home) is probably the only “traditional” track on here, and none of them are religious, but it’s still one I can appreciate. Fairytale Of New York is an uncommon holiday song to cover so she certainly get’s points for getting off the beaten path. It was originally done in the 80’s by an Irish group called The Progues… not my favorite off the album but I enjoy having some variety on my holiday playlist for sure. Another less common one that was far more to my liking was 2000 Miles… give it a listen.
